Roll-On for Better Health

Sometimes, the application of essential oils can be a challenge. I remember getting my first bottles and thinking, "Okay, now how do I apply it?" Although there are several ways essential oils can be used (topically, internally, & aromatically), applying them to our feet may be one of the best for quick delivery of EO benefits. But then came my dilemma...how do I get it there, without dripping it all over - and I'm pretty flexible.
You may have more effective results applying essential oils to the area of need or on your wrist, neck and chest.

Enter, the game changer, ROLLER BOTTLES! These little gems make EO application to my feet effortless and effective.

Here's a list of my MUST HAVE roller bottles:

Lavender: This roller bottle sits on my bedside table. Apply to feet - and wrists - to help you fall asleep. This is also a good one if you have anxiety or are in an upsetting situation. Carry it with you and rub on your wrists to smell and calm you.

Digestive blend: Great to roll on your stomach for indigestion, stomach upset, nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhea, and over eating. Roll around and especially below your belly button.
I have minor stomach issues, have had for most of my adult life and I use to eat a lot of Tums to ease my pains, but now I roll on a digestive blend This seems to be even quicker at relieving my symptoms and the licorice smell has become comforting that relief is on its way.

Protective blend: Fight those germs! This blend helps contest the spread of air born viruses. Simply apply this to your feet every morning, you can also rub in on your forearms during the day, or on your chest if you're fighting a cold.
Bonus: I love the smell of this one, it is like a crisp fall day.

Balance** ~ Lavender blend: Here you have the calming benefits of lavender and the grounding effects of Balance blend in one roller. Apply to wrists, over your heart, behind ears, on your feet.
Bonus: I wear this as a perfume because I love the smell.

Make your own:

  • Pick up a few roller bottles here or here. I use the 5ml (1/6 oz).
  • Add 8 1-3 drops of essential oils for 5ml at a 1-3% dilution.
  • Top off with the carrier oil of your choice.
  • Add a label - and maybe a little embellishment.
  • Roll your way to better health!

A Note About Carrier Oils:
Here's just a few carrier oils:  fractionated coconut oil (available here and here), sweet almond oil, macadamia nut oil (I picked this up on our trip to Hawaii), olive oil, and avocado oil. Click here for a good article about them and I posted about them here

*Really you can get as creative as you want with your roller bottle mixtures. There is no limit! For me, it's the easiest, quickest way to get essential oils into your life (and pocket or purse).

**Balance is a proprietary blend by doTERRA.

Tell me, what roller bottle can you not live without?

This post has been updated to reflect new information I have learned - you may find things omitted that were previously there. In recipes, I have crossed out the old amount and added the new. 10/2013
